Save Our Shepherds

Dear Creative Heart Sisters,

We’ve been pleased to host crops and have classes for you and your continued support to help our business grow.  Right now we would like to ask for your support of a cause that is dear to our heart.

As you probably know, the Hearts Sisters are deeply involved with helping, supporting and fund raising money for the German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS).

In recent years we’ve been shocked to learn of the bleak situation German Shepherds as a breed face.

Here are just a few of the disturbing facts we’ve learned:
•    for 6 years in a row, German Shepherds have been the #2 homeless breed in the U.S
•    shelters everywhere, including the Kansas City Metro area, are overrun with German Shepherds
•    German Shepherd rescues, including our local one, are overwhelmed with wonderful dogs

Missouri German Shepherd Rescue, MOGS for short, is our local German Shepherd rescue.  As we’ve gotten to know them over time, we’ve come to realize what a huge task they’ve taken on and how they struggle to save every dog they can.  They’re a small but mighty group of animal lovers who sacrifice so much it’s hard to describe.  They’re foster-based and literally operate 24/7/365 trying to save “just one more.”  They’re the ones at the shelter on Christmas Day.  Picking up sick dogs on New Year’s Eve.  Answering midnight calls.  They’re always there.

So we’ve decided to actively support this wonderful group whose members give their hearts and souls to unselfishly save these dogs.

One way we’re doing that is by creating the 1st Annual Heart Sisters Save-Our-Shepherds Fair, on October 22 from 11 am to 3 pm.  It’s a short and fun family fair, with a bouncy house, an appearance by KC Wolf, and other fun activities for the whole family.  The purpose is simple:  raise money for MOGS so they can continue to save the ever-growing number of dogs in trouble.
